10 Year Anniversary
Last week we had a great celebration of God at work among us marking the 10th year of living as the CCF part of the family of God at 10411 Greenbelt Rd.
Of special significance is that we were not only recounting God at work years ago but we were experiencing him in the present stirring our faith and wooing us into his presence in worship. The prophetic word of "Jubilee" is a year of debts being cancelled and living in God's favor. Accompanying this favor though is the people devoting themselves to God. In the Israelite experience God told them not to plant their fields that year. Trust God for his supply. God is the One who carries our physical and spiritual lives. We live in covenanted relationship that we are not our own, we respond in obedience.
It was so valuable to have Pastor Emeritus, Lewis Good and his wife Helen, present to recount some of the God timed moments. Did you know that the property was not publicly for sale when contact was made with the owner, but the owner was planning to sell and already had two contracts on her table? Did you know that there was significant sacrificial giving into the land purchase and building phase that included a matching gift of $1,000,000? These are just two of the God at work beyond our planning ability stories that were acts of obedience to the prompting of the Spirit of God ten years ago that were very foundational in how God unfolded his purposes for us. That testimony makes it special and raises my expectation that God carries each of us in his heart and has special purposes for us to fulfill in ways that proclaim the fame and favor of God as we respond to nudging of the Spirit of God today.
Our Heritage is always to root us and to know we grow from this place. But while we always honor our heritage we are never bound by it. We always look for the foot prints of Jesus ahead of us leading us into the Horizons. So where will following Jesus take us in the next 10 years? Some pretty good places as we root and grow from the last ten.
